GIST is recruiting a Senior Data Analyst to support the delivery of research projects in Africa and the Middle East and to develop our Research and Development Hub. GIST's name was born from desire to simplify complex problems and to prioritise substance over style. This is what we believe can lead to sustainable, meaningful change. The gist is: the Senior Data Analyst analyses large datasets and builds the technological tools to improve our data analysis capabilities.

skills and experience

To be effective and successful in this role, you will require a combination of specific hard and soft skills. These are listed as follows:

  • 5+ years' experience as a data analyst
  • Experience managing a team and/or other analysts
  • Strong analytical skills using Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Google Analytics, etc)
  • Ability to understand technology, and to learn how systems work
  • Solid academic background; preferably a degree in numerical/scientific/computer related subjects
  • You can engage senior stakeholders and can lead sessions to solicit requirements for data analysis
  • You have solid experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, preferably in an international development context
  • You have knowledge of data governance and data quality management concepts and you have previously contributed in a data governance project
  • You have solid written and verbal communication skills in English and are comfortable in dealing with stakeholders across the globe anf van sustain effective working relationships both virtually and physically
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in another language is a bonus
